Chenrezig- The Buddha of Compassion (Avalokiteshvara)
Aspiration Prayer
Please protect me and by my refuge, Noble Jigten Wangchuck
Look with compassion Supreme Arya Chenrezig.
Poor and with bad karma, there is no one other than you I can rely on,
Powerful Lord Chenrezig, who knows me.
By the undeceiving protection, Chenrezig, may all exhausted sentient beings
in the prison of samsara
be released from the place of unbearable suffering and taken to the buddhafield
of great bliss.
To Lord Chenrezig, refuge and protector in this life and the next, I pray
from the depths of my heart
That at the time of my death you will show me your face and lead me on
the path, Chenrezig.
You are the embodiment of all the refuge, Lord Chenrezig. Because life
and life I will place my mind on you.
Through your compassion, take care of us who are without a protector; take
us to the pure land, Chenrezig.
Lord Chenrezig Wang, who is the embodiment of all the Buddhas, I call your
name and meditate on you again and again.
Through the force of kleshas I have accumulated bad karma. I confess today
before you, Protector.
Noble Chenrezig, Lord of Compassion, by the blessings of reciting the six
heart syllables
May the cause of suffering which is fire of the five poisons be pacified,
and may the birth-door to the six realms be closed.
Having faith, all appearances are the body of the Noble One, thinking this
way all sounds are the six syllable mantra.
Clear and empty mindfulness awareness, my mind merges with yours; may I
accomplish the three adoptions of the yoga.
In brief, for those I am connected with through good and bad karma, including
the father and mother and all sentient beings of the six realms
May the unfavorable conditions be pacified and may glorious joy be obtained;
ultimately, may the essence of enlightenment become perfected.
This aspiration was written by His Holiness Ngawang Tenzin Rinpoche
at the age of 54, on an Auspicious Day of the Water Male Monkey Year during
the second of two sets of 100 million recitations of the OM MANI PADME
HUNG Mantra that His Holiness had sponsored and lead at Phuentsholing Gonpa
in Bhutan. |
